Amy Faruque

It seems I’ve been “practicing yoga” for as long as I can remember; from headstands and back bends in the family room to making up gymnastic routines with my mom. It wasn’t until I was faced with the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1998 that I formally and purposefully focused on my practice. I began my practice with Iyengar teachings and although now more Vinyasa based, my teaching still has strong ties to Iyengar. I have taught yoga for over eight years and have fused my favorite aspects of a variety of styles, including Viniyoga, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Shiva Rea Flow and Iyengar. Combing these styles and using the breath as a guide, I’ve produced an eclectic style that I call “Yoga for You.” I like to encourage my students to explore personal limits with respect and to greet their practice with acceptance and gratitude. My goal is for students to leave class feeling better than when they came; to be kind to themselves and to not take it too seriously! It’s only yoga! Have fun with it!

I also have my Master’s Degree in Education and have taught elementary school for the pat nine years. For more information about me, please visit my website at AMYoga.com. ...back
